Hill People

Evan and Morgan's Notes from along the way.

Farewell Cap Hill!

Farewell Cap Hill!

Written by Morgan Litchford on 6/2/2025

An ode to the best neighborhood in Seattle.

Loud do the storefronts of Ballard call!
The tapas bars and limited edition KAVU fleece pullovers beckon me closer.
But these notes fall on my deaf ears, because you rise above them all.

Greenlake whispers sweetly:
"Amble my shores with a $10 mushroom mocha wellness latte from Retreat, you yuppie."
Dismissive, I shun its solicitations for yours completely.

Begone U District, lose my number Wallingford. Queen Anne and SLU hold nothing to my adored.

Volunteer Park! Louisa Boren Lookout!
The charm of 15th Ave, the tranquility of Interlaken Blvd.
Your gardens and arboretums pale to none, there can be no doubt.

Okay, my car was broken into twice.
My roommate got into an accident, someone sawed through my bike lock, the apartment next door was under construction for 11 months, contractors took over the entire block of parking and towed our cars, we woke up to a fire at 3 AM, the only people with beautiful gardens and mansions come from generational wealth, no one understands the intersections along Denny, Safeway gets a little strange at night, no one comes to visit because it's practically its own city...

BUT CAP HILL

the last 428 days with you have been really nice.
